Adoniram Judson (1788–1850) grew up in a pastor’s home in Massachusetts. Brilliant and ambitious, as a young man he drifted from the faith under the influence of sceptical friends.
The sudden death of a friend at a roadside inn forced Judson to face the question of eternity. He returned to the Scriptures, sought the Lord and gave his life to Him.
In 1812 Judson and his wife Ann sailed for Asia; he went on to serve in Burma for almost forty years and translated the whole Bible into Burmese.
His story reminds every student that a calling begins not with talent but with complete surrender to God.
